Educational work at the Villa Merländer

Because education is the key to making it better

We believe that education is the key to making the world a better place in the long term, to prevent, to educate and to create tolerance. For many years the NS-Documentation Centre has therefore been committed to educational work on the subject of National Socialist persecution. To this end, we not only hold exhibitions on our premises, but also offer a wide range of different events and individual partnerships with schools and universities.

Educational work with children and young people

Villa Merländer maintains numerous cooperations and partnerships with schools in Krefeld and the surrounding area. The path to the pupils often leads through the teachers of religion and history. Each cooperation is individual and we make every effort to find the right offers for all concerns. For example, we offer support in the preparation of lessons, we are contact persons for project weeks or the preparation of trips to memorial sites. We have a variety of workshops in our repertoire and offer various guided tours with a focus on specific topics and corresponding participatory questionnaires. Please contact us, we are looking forward to a successful cooperation.

Internships and technical papers

Depending on capacity, we also offer internships and supervision of specialist work. Please also contact the villa.

Educational work with adults

Educational work thrives on variety and that is why we are proud to have a broad network of experts and historians working with us. We offer events for a diverse and interested public: whether it be stumbling introductions through different parts of Krefeld, readings by extraordinary authors, encounters with contemporary witnesses, conferences for historians, concerts by Jewish musicians or panel discussions - the Villa Merländer as the NS documentation centre of the city of Krefeld tries to find diverse approaches to historical and current topics. You will find our upcoming events in our calendar of events.

I think it is important to maintain the memory of National Socialism. My tasks here include general research, the development of pedagogical concepts and help with the organisation of events. With my commitment I would like to stop the social forgetting.
